I was stuck two days in Mahon because of strongs winds, then two days again in Port de Pollensa. Windy's AROME model was the only one that could forecast this last gale, that seemed very local, but quite intense, over the Balearic Sea. I guess there was quite a few sailors that was taken by surprise by this weather, I meet many cruisers that haven't discovered AROME yet, though Windy launched it early this year. The model itself isn't new, it's more than 10 years since it was developed by Meteofrance to forecast the devastating rains that are causing havoc at an increasing rate.

At least it gave me opportunity to do some touristing. Monday I took the bike to Alcudia, which was a nice surprise. The historic center is very nice, with beautiful houses built of sandstone.

Tuesday started with poring rain, which didn't stop until the afternoon, so I was never ashore.

Wednesday offered better weather and winds, Before eight I was under sail out of the bay heading for Port de Soller. The good winds lasted most of the day, only the last hour I had to use the engine. Port de Soller is well sheltered except from northeast. I thought it should be more crowded than it was, but I had no difficulty to find a free spot.

I have been here once before. Together with one of my daughters, I rented a room in Soller town, some kilometers inland. I remember it as a very attractive little town, I hope i will not be disappointed tomorrow when I take the bike there.
