On Wednesday I took the bus up into the mountains and visited Sintra, a famous Portuguese destination. Normally I have quite a low opinion on tourists that go to popular places and complains about how touristy they are, but the historic center of Sintra was a bit too much even for me. I think there was not one square meter at the street level that was not commercialised. Hence I took no pictures there. But the walk up the mountain to the moorish castle was nice and a good exercise. Going down with my damaged knees was less pleasant, but it was still worth the pain.

Later today my son Axel arrives, so tomorrow I say goodbye to Cascais. The plan is to go to Sesimbra, a small town south of Lisbon that I have heard only positive things about.
