Strong southerlies is forecasted for next week so I wanted to make as much progress as possible before I get stuck somewhere. The 180 miles to Cherbourg looked possible without too much motorsailing. Except for some thunder and rain in the night it was a smooth ride - until I came close to Barfleur. Just like last year I came there just as the strong tides turned against me. Very frustrating to make a few knots the last 30 miles. Not until six in the afternoon I tied up in Cherbourg. Luckily I was able to sleep a little late at night after the trawlers returned to port, otherwise it would have been unbearable. The 180 miles took 35 hours, not so bad considering the slow end of the passage.
