I had to stay five nights in Cherbourg, waiting for suitable winds. The first two nights I stayed at anchor outside the wall, then two nights in the marina. When the forecast showed good winds for Sunday and very good for Monday-Tuesday, I moved out to the anchorage again to make an early start to catch the east going current. Which was 4.40 Sunday morning. At the anchorage I slept just a few hours, even though I went to bed before nine.

And no sleep at sea either, even though I tried. There seems to be little cargo traffic in Bay de Seine, I saw maybe six ships during the day. But it was still difficult for me to sleep when going, as usual I have to say. In the evening I came down towards Dieppe, after the wind shifted to easterly I was forced to take a more southerly course if I wanted to keep sailing. And I would also be able to get a weather update on Internet coming closer to land. I was tempted to go in to the marina in Dieppe when I passed there, but that would cost me a whole day of sailing, so I continued towards Boulogne, where I arrived at 6:20 Monday morning. Boulogne is a very big fishing port, lots of boats where coming in or going out just when I entered the port. They didn't care much for the rules of the sea so I had a bit stressful final of a 26 hours sail.
